13 01 2021

Nadia Owusu, a Brooklyn based writer, has just released 'one of the best books to read in 2021', according to Vogue.

A recipient of the 2019 Whiting Award for emerging writers, Owusu has been closely watched by the industry, and her debut book, Aftershocks: A Memoir, released January 2021, has already been met with praise from Time magazine, The New York Times, and hailed as one of BookExpo America's 'buzziest books of the year'. The memoir chronicles her life, having been born in Tanzania and raised in Italy, Ethiopia, England, Ghana, and Uganda, and her experiences of being a Black woman, dealing with emotional trauma, and the concepts of identity and home. In addition to her first book, her writing has appeared in publications including The New York Times, Washington Post's The Lily, Orion, The Literary Review, and The Paris Review Daily, and she also works for a Black-owned consulting firm which helps social change organisations define goals and execute plans.
